Emergency Room Visit Again

Thursday morning I started having very intense upper right abdominal pain with cold sweats, pain in both shoulders and chest pains. Went to local ER and they went into their heart attack mode before I could even tell them what I was experiencing. BP was 170/100 pulse 65. EKG normal, chest x-ray normal. One of the heart enzymes was very slightly elevated, sorry I don't know which one. They finally did a ultra sound of Gal Bladder area, normal. I am on three different BP meds toprol xl 200 mg. varapomil 120 mg. and cardura 4 mg. My BP is still averaging 160/90. I've had all the standard Gal Bladder test, Ultra Sound, Hida Scan with CCK all normal. Also had a lot of heart test, all OK. The pain is still there and varies in intensity. I am affraid it's gonna kill me before the Doctors figure it out. The pain gets pretty bad and my BP goes up but doesn't seem to respond to meds. I have to think the BP thing is secoundary but what?
One last thing, the ER Doctor said I had a mild case of pneumonia, showed up on X-ray? I thought that was strange as I have no fever or cough or symtoms. He put me on Zithromax for 5 days.

Re: Emergency Room Visit Again

It could be pneumonia, lots of people having walking pneumonia and dont realize it, slight fever etc. However, my husband had bouts of angina (chest pains) off and on for years. Sometimes bp normal, sometimes high. Last time we took him to hospital, same, Ekg, did treadmill stress tests excellent, blood work, etc. etc. Finally we told the doctor to do a heart cath, as we felt something was underlying cause of the chest pains, at first the doctor a cardiologist at that was reluctant, stating his immediate family history didnt indicate history, he didnt smoke or drink either, could of lost a few pounds but nothing major. He finally conceded to the test. My husband has a 50 percent blockage. No surgery, not that dire, but he did state it was good to catch now, so they could modify diet, use cholestrol meds to get rid of some of the plague built up in the ateries, that if we hadnt had the test, not immediately, but somewhere down the road, our worst fear would have been a reality. You know your body best, if it persist, you persist. Good Luck to you.
