ms contin and ketoprofen

I've read that with osteoarthritis it might be a good idea to take a pain reliever, like ms contin with an anti inflammatory med. Can ketoprofen be that NSAID? I have a script for keto and am taking 120 mg of ms contin a day for pain. Could both taken together be a good idea? The ms contin reduces my pain but definitely doesn't take it away, just makes it tolerable.
Thanks from a newbie!

Hey there, just wanted to welcome you!! I really do not know much about ketoprofen but hopefully someone who does will be along soon to help ya out. Did your Dr. tell you anything about the drug? I would think even your pharmacist might be able to help you out on that also. Anyway, just wanted to say welcome, and best of luck to ya!! Surgical Disaster

Re: ms contin and ketoprofen

Thanks for the welcome. My surgery hasn't been a true disaster, but not quite what I had hoped. I'm trying to avoid any more for the moment..thus the ms contin. I was prescribed ketoprofen for pain a few months ago but it wasn't strong enough. Someone on another site suggested taking an anti inflammatory with the ms contin and I just wondered if ketoprofen would do the job. I can ask my doctor but you know what it's like trying to make contact.......
I'll find out soon. Not at big problem at the moment as the ms contin is doing a pretty good job.
Thanks again for the welcome and good luck to you too!!

Re: ms contin and ketoprofen

Hi,
I have osteoarthritis in both knees so my pain is weight bearing related. I am taking 90 mg in the morning and 30 mg at night. It is working OK, probably not strong enough, but I don't know how high a dosage I want to go to. I'm going to try to hold at 120 mg and change when I take the pill, like maybe 2 in am and 2 in pm if my present dosage doesn't work. I must have a high tolerance for pain or something. I was up to 75 iu or whatever of the duragesic patch every two days and didn't even register that I was taking anything. When I found that for that dosage it cost about 360.00 a month, and I would need much more, I asked for something else. I am trying to lose weight so hope my need for strong pain relief will not be too long term. We'll see. At least the pain is mostly tolerable at the moment, if not gone. We'll see how it goes. Hope you get yours under control. It sounds like you're at a pretty low dosage...at least it would be for me. I've read many get good pain relief at that level though. Again, good luck to you.
