What is happening to my body

I know when you have a panic attack you get a relese of adrenalin which causes many of those icky symptoms. But what other hormone or chemical in the body gives off similar symptoms.
For example, I get extreme leg weakness where I can barely walk, and I know it is not muscle weakness, it feels like its chemical/blood related maybe. But everything I find on leg weakness pertains to muscle weakness. I also get many other symptoms, some that are similar to panic attacks, but we have FINALLY ruled out panic attacks.
Every now and then something comes over me, it almost feels like the life is being sucked out of me, I am so weak, and lightheaded, shaky, hot/cold etc
I was convinced it was low blood sugar until I bought a monitor and my levels are always within normal. I have been logging all my stats, BP, pulse, temp, and blood sugar, nothing is out of the norm before during or after these 'spells' of weakness.
So my questions again is, what other chemicals/hormones etc in the body can give off horrible feelings.
Even if somebody could give me some direction, I would really appreciate it.

Have they looked further into the adrenal horomone? Cortisol also plays a role too I believe.

Re: What is happening to my body

thanks for your reply. They did a cortisol test(a.m and p.m) although I have learned since having the test that it wasn't thorough enough. It was normal.
It feels almost like an extreme surge of hormones(i.e adrenaline) however I don't get the excitability and racing heart etc. It is almost the opposite reaction, I get weak and shaky and lightheaded etc etc etc. Thanks for helping,

Abby

Re: What is happening to my body

Abby,
Are you sure your blood pressure is absolutely normal during one of these attacks?

Catecholamines are hormones such as adrenaline (epinephrine), norepinephrine, and dopamine. An excess of these tend to greatly increase blood pressure, heart rate, and produce other symptoms.

Although the most common symptoms are headache, palpitations, and excessive and inappropriate perspiration, sometimes people have symptoms more like some of yours : Weakness, nervousness and anxiety, tremor, pallor, nausea, exhaustion, fatigue, chest or abdominal pains, and, over time, weight loss.

Cortisol, as Crabby mentioned is the most researched of all the "stress" hormones, plus those I memtion above, but you could further do a search engine investigation of:

Corticosteroids
Corticotrophin Release Hormone (CRH)
Hydrocortisone
Adrenocorticoids
Adrenocortitropic Hormone

Are we having fun yet?

Re: What is happening to my body

P.S. ...Just one more afterthought. This is a long shot I know, but has your doctopr checked your plasma magnesium levels?
A deficiency in magnesium can cause muscle weakness and tremors..
Shakiness, nervousness, dizziness, and anxiety.
