BP measured today...Question about result.

I'm a 45 year old man , 5'9'' and 155 lbs.
6 months ago I changed my diet and went to a high fiber , higher nutrition , low fat diet .I do not smoke or drink.

All through my 20's and 30's I had very predictable BP of 120/70.At age 40 it crept up to 125/75 and stayed in that range for 5 years.

Now that I have changed my diet for 6 months I went to see my doctor and had my BP taken today. I weighed in at 147 so it appeares I lost a few pounds and my BP was 126/62.

I dont really know if this is a good result or not.The systolic is about the same but the diastolic dropped down some.

Is this a typical result or should have both numbers dropped some amount ? Does haveing one drop and the other stay basically the same actually mean anything or that something is wrong ?

Thanks for your insights !

I would say that your BPs are very similar and that your BP right now is very good. Your blood pressure is going to vary from hour to hour, day to day. You might get a better idea what your BP is doing if you start getting it taken about the same time during the day and with similar activity, so that you can see real changes that are not affected by diet, activity, current stress level.

Keep up the healthy habits...you are far ahead of most in terms of keeping fit!

Re: BP measured today...Question about result.

Thank You BabyCatcher. Well I am glad it improved at least alittle bit..... I cant ever recall me being under 70 at any time of the day so I wasnt sure what to make of that.Tomarrow I go in for a Lipid Panel with LDL/HDL ratio to see if these numbers changed from my last test.

Thank You again for your help.
