Does Anybody Get Vertigo Attacks?

Does anybody get vertigo attacks either from their asthma or any other condition? I've been diagnosed with Meniere's which is characterized by vertigo attacks, but I have noticed that I can prevent them by using Bonkaid (OTC asthma Med) and and OTC inhaler(epinephrine). Caffeine also helps and it is also a broncodialater and I have to use Phy=enylephrine nasal spray on a contiuous basis and I have a prescription for Flonase which also helps. Sounds like a lot of drugs that are designed for the airways and I just wondered if my vertigo might be from asthma even though I don't have the Atypical symptoms but I do have sleep apnea and use a CPAP machine.
Thanks,
Rick

Rick,
What are your asthma symptoms and what is a CPAP machine? That is interesting about your asthma meds helping your vertigo! Never heard of that!

Re: Does Anybody Get Vertigo Attacks?

Caffeine is very good for apnea but not as good as (yet another asthma drug) theophylline! Apparently it is even better at curing apnea than relieving asthma symtoms

Re: Does Anybody Get Vertigo Attacks?

Rick this is kinda funny I have had the same symptoms for years (my hearing will go out on one side and the room will spin around) but since starting Singulair combined with clarinex my symtoms have gone away. I wonder if its actually a sinus type condition.

Hope this helps

Re: Does Anybody Get Vertigo Attacks?

yup yup it is!
Vertigo attacks, if they are a spinning feeling, are a result from your ears/sinus/Eustachian Tube. When the sinuses swell, the ET swells, and the ear swells, blocking off fluid from draining. Fluid builds up in middle ear & if untreated long enough, leads to a spinning feeling(dizziness, vertigo). It's HORRIBLE..it makes me so sick when I get that dizzy, I'll keep falling over until the infection or inflammation is gone. Mine is allergy triggered=(. I take Flonase w/ Clarinex & that helps..Singulair also helps.. don't take it regularly..also Sudafed Severe Congestion..my doctor recommends that over prescription decongestants(esp love how small the pill is~great when my throat swells!) & it's safe to take daily if you need it. For me, these ET/vertigo attacks are often related to my asthma b/c that's all part of one airway, often referred to as Reactive Airway Disease. It's the same thing as asthma, just means that the entire airway flares up at the same time. oh well there was my 2 cents!
