my hand is numb.. need advice

hello everyone.

The other day, I hit my elbow hard right on the funny bone. Then I used my computer for about an hour or so with my head resting on my hand with my elbow on the desk. I noticed my pinky and part of my hand is numb. I've been resting my arm for about a week but the numbness has not gone away. I went to the doctor and she says I damaged the nerve but it should heal. The doctor gave me anti-inflammatory medication. It's been another week and the numbness has not gone away at all. It hasnot gotten any better. Anybody have any advice or have any idea what exactly I have done? There is no pain in my hand or arm just numbness. Thanks for reading.

Best to see an orthopedic doctor. Usually nerves are not very forgiving and will take a long time to heal if ever. That is why it is best to see an orthopedic doctor.

Re: my hand is numb.. need advice

Do you have any weakness in your arm? Do you have difficulty performing any tasks with that hand? If you run a finger where it is numb is there any sensory loss? Did the doctor take any x-rays to see if you fractured anything in there? Eek...my only suggestion for you is to keep your fingers and hand moving around so that you don't get any muscle wasting in that hand. Hope you soon find out what's up
