Hi Kalie,

Well I saw my Surgeon yesterday for my post-op visit 1 wk after my wire localization excisional biopsy and he told me my breast was "loaded" with Fibroadenoma tumors that were benign. I asked him why I developed so many and he could not give me an answer. I am quite concerned about this. I was also concerned about something I felt on the left side that my Dr. checked and he said that the left side is just like the right. I asked if I should have an Ultrasound done but he told me I didn't need one and didn't seem concerned about my left breast. I don't know if I feel too good about that.

Also, my Surgeon removed a LOT of bloody fluid from my breast that filled a paper cup! He was surprised as to how much fluid was in there and so was I. Is this normal?? I am worried about that too. Well he wants me to have another ***** & Ultrasound done in Oct. then see him after that. I was curious how these Fibroadenoma tumors affect my breast in the future? This is really on my mind now. Any insight you could share w/me would be appreciated. Thanks for listening,

I don't know too much about Fibroadenoma tumors. When they appear it's common to have the tumors throughout the breast. They are generally not considered to be a pre-cancerous condition, but can interfere in the diagnosis of cancer b/c a woman with Fibroadenoma who feels a new lump may not go to the Dr to get it checked b/c she thinks it's just another fibroid.

It sounds to me like 6month check ups are the way to go for you. 6 months is long enough to notice change, but generally short enough to not cause harm if cancer does start to develop.

I'm not sure how the Fibroadenoma tumors will effect your breasts in the future -- I've never had one. It sounds like something that may come back.

Keep an eye on it, breathe deep, and go out for dinner...it's not cancerous!
