PAINFUL blood blister

I got a blood blister on the side of my finger today due to injury. I'm trying to leave it alone (not pop it so it doesn't get infected) but the pressure is tight enough where its very painful and throbbing. What can I do to decrease it? Should I apply a warm or cold compress?

Re: PAINFUL blood blister

Cold compresses not warm. It would be the same as applying ice to a bruise.
