Re: New With A Few ????

130/90 isn't horrible. Slow down on the drinking & caffeine. I'm not perfect by any means, but it isn't because of diet+. Still smoke almost a pack a day. I do drink a couple during the week & go off of the deep end sometimes drinking (rarely). Moderation is the key. I try not to drink during the week & relax (I'm type A). B/P was 113/70 on average last week on Lotrel & Altenolol. After drinking this weekend, my b/p was 122/75. I do believe that there is a correlation. At 33, I can't be a saint, but yes, drinking on a regular basis does raise b/p for a lot of people.

Re: New With A Few ????

I bet your numbers would be *beautiful* if you stopped smoking and cut out the caffiene. Those are two addictions that are tough to quit, but it's certainly worth a try. I'm currently trying to work a food addiction (I love carbs) and it's been hell. I'm only 15 pounds overweight but my doctor has a gun to my head to lose it or he'll add nasty meds to my current regimen. I have pretty good systolic pressure but my diastolic, like yours, loves to get to 90, which it often does in the afternoon.

Stick with this website, whatever you do. You'll learn much more from your peers than you will from your doctor (although the docs are still a vital part of your wellness system).

Good luck!
