Not sure...

I'm not one to jump to any conclusions or anything but this one is making me a little curious. I have a mole on my right arm and it has been there for longer than I can remember. Its about a half a centimeter in diameter so its not really big but just recently it started growing a little white bump in it or it may have only looked white becuase of the glare from light. The other day i just gently squeezed it and some clear, pus like fluid came from it. It scabbed over by the next day and it looked a little irritated and hurt a little. When I hold it in some good light it looks like it has a bluish tint to it and the mole has always been a light brown/burghandy color. The skin around it is a little red too, i guess from the irritation, i was wondering what some of you thought about it, if it sounds like anything serious. Thanks in advance.

Re: Not sure...

Anytime a mole changes in appearance it should be checked out to be on the safe side. I would go to a dermatologist.

Re: Not sure...

I would call a dermatologist. Do not put it off. I had a mole that changed and it came positive for malignant melanoma stage 2. I was very lucky. When you call tell them the mole has had some changes. It may or may not be anything serious but be better safe than sorry.

Re: Not sure...

lisa1991, When I read your post, I noticed that you have basal cell and melanoma. Are you more likely to get melanoma if you have basal cell? Also, how long after the bc was the melamoma found? This is my biggest fear that I will get melanoma. Are there any statistics about the odds? I know that if you catch the melanoma early, it is curable, but it adds a more serious dimension to the problem. Hope you or someone else will respond. Thanks, balleteach

Re: Not sure...

They found the basal cell in september of 2003 and the melanoma in november 2003. The basal was just little spots that did not heal up. The melanoma was a previous mole that changed when I was pregnant with my second child. I did not know I thought it was just the hormones doing weird things to my body. That mole had changed 2 years earlier so I was really lucky. I go back the 22 of June to have another basal cell cut out. My biggest fear was that I would get melanoma too. I am going to be 31 next month so I young to be getting this cancer. The dr said that my melanoma was 99 % cured. I go every three months to get skin checks. Good luck and do not forget to call that doctor.
