Treatment for a UTI

I have been treating a yeast infection and now think I have a UTI. I'm not sure, but I have a weird feeling after urination, which is familiar to other UTIs I have had.
However, I don't want to take antibiotics as they reduce the effectiveness of the pill... but I also don't want to go another week or longer to have sex.
So, is it possible to treat an urinary tract infection without antibiotics?
I also don't want to risk getting another yeast infection from the antibiotics..

Can drinking lots of water treat an infection, or does it just treat the symptoms?

Thanks.

Re: Treatment for a UTI

Antibiotics can effect the pill, however with a yeast infection and a UTI you aren't going to be having sex anyway (I hope!) so it shouldn't be too much of a concern as long as you check with your doctor that this is ok, perhaps this would also involve checking your fertility too, or perhaps using condoms also when you do start having sex again.
UTI's can be treated other ways, water does help, as does washing yourself with warm water after every time you pee and drinking cranberry juice, but it is a serious infection, antibiotics are the best way to treat them.
Go to your doctor about it, s/he will be able to advise you to the best course of action, do not leave it or attempt to treat it yourself, espeshally not if you are sexually active, you have to make sure to get rid of the infection and make sure not to pass it onto your partern(s).
Oh, and also of course, if you haven't already get your partner(s) teasted and treated for yeast infections, UTI's and anything else that may be necissary.

Re: Treatment for a UTI

My yeast infection is gone... I finished the treatments last night, finally.
So, I haven't had sex for about 10 days, which is ok... but now if I have to take antibiotics it will be another 10 days or more before the pill will be working properly.

We always use condoms anyway.. so no infections should be passed on?

Just wondering what you mean by fertility checks?

Thanks for the suggestions on treating the UTI. I think that, if I had one at all, it is gone now. I drank a lot of water yesterday and will continue that for a few days. I no longer have any signs of one. I will try some cranberry juice as well.
