Exclamation PLEASE HELP! Have a Yasmin Question

Recently I began taking the birth control pill known as Yasmin. I used to have pretty clear skin before, but now (after a nearly a month of taking it), I'm still experiencing PAINFUL cystic acne around the area of my mouth. It seems to be unavoidable as I have been using Proactive on a daily basis, and I'm still getting HUGE pimples. I'm not sure how long this is supposed to be going on as the doctor says "it will get worse before it gets better."

Is there someone out there that has gotten to the point (while taking Yasmin), that their skin cleared up as informed it would be? I don't know of any other treatments that I can use for this as I was under the impression Proactive was the best on the market.

PLEASE HELP!

Re: PLEASE HELP! Have a Yasmin Question

I was on Yasmin and I always had clear skin. Speak to your doctor tell her that your getting acne she may want to change your pill.

Re: PLEASE HELP! Have a Yasmin Question

Don't even bother switching pills. Just stop taking it. I have never had acne ever til I went on the pill. I was on it for 9 years and had acne that would never go away. I was just completely fed up and stopped taking the pill and antibitotics and now I get an occasional zit and thats it. Get off the pill!!!!

Re: PLEASE HELP! Have a Yasmin Question

Hmm...Makes ya wonder what the hay is wrong w/ the doctors--for instance I was on Aleese and I had the same problem as you though not really painful acne per se, just much much more so than I used to ever have---then I got on Yasmin. Not that much acne but that is most likely due to me trying more expensice acne products like clinique. Anyway---you mentioned cysts in the mouth and the funny thing is , I now have many cysts on my vagina and cervix areas and also the one on my hand that I've had for a long time hurts at times now....used to be if I left it alone it didn't. And then there is a cyst that's on my right breast though it comes and goes depending on my cycle...but still I never had cyst problems w/ the exception of the breast and hand until I got on the PILL!!!

Re: PLEASE HELP! Have a Yasmin Question

Girls please remember everyone is different - our bodies are not the same, so what works for one person (or doesnt work ) has no relevance to what works for another person. My sister LOVES YASMIN and its helped all her sympoms and she praises it immensly, but clearly some girls hate it . Dont be so quick to tell others to get off something that might help them - its more important to discuss the issues w/ the doctor and see what other options there are. Remember for every medication, some people LOVE it and some HATE it - yo uneed to focus on your own body and issues and not others, as helpful as the reviews and everything are , at the end of the day its your own body thats going to take the pill good luck
