Help. Feeling miserable. Is it allergies? sinus?

Hi.
I'm new to this board. I've been feeling miserable for weeks.
I have severe nasal congestion. For me it seems weather related.
When it's rainy and cold, it seems to trigger my congestion.
The nasal congestion is usually worst at nights. Other symptoms: dizzy, woozy, fatigue, dry throat, trouble sleeping and minor chest discomfort.

can't take sudafed. makes me feel worse.

my doctor seems to think it is allergies. he sent me to an allergist. the allergy test showed that i'm allergic to dust and mold. Not pollen.
currently using flonase and saline nasal spray. It doesn't seem to be working.

is this allergies or sinus or something else. i don't have running nose or itchy eyes. no headaches.

sorry for the long message. i'm confused and scared; it's been adversely affecting me at work.. my doctors don't seem to be helpful. they keep telling me its allergies.

i am going through the same thing you are going through. i am scheduled to see a neurologist on monday because the ENT cannot determine what is going on and my CT scan showed my sinus cavities are "clear." my only big problem is the dizzy/foggy feeling. all i can tell you is you aren't alone, i have read where lots of other people are going through this (one ENT made me cry and talked like i was imagining things). just hang in there and keep going to doctors until someone can tell you what's wrong!

You need to go and get a CT scan of your sinuses. I had the same symptoms you did before a scan revealed a bacterial sinus infection and inflammation.

It may be non-bacterial sinusitis. The best treatment for that is irrigation x2 a day, using a machine (about $100-150). I use this with warm water, salt, baking soda, and Alkalol (a mucus solvent).

The Flonase didn't do anything for me either, except give me bloody noses. Ditch it. Astelin works better, but even that is pretty ineffective. Irrigation is your ticket out.

Hi there, Im new to the boards, So bear with me Im learning about all kinds of things, The one thing I know is Im taking Zyrtec for allergies and it works for me. I also have asma (spelling) so the inhaler helps me breath. Maybe it will help you try asking your dr. about Zyrtec.
