testing for menopause

How many of you have actually been tested for your hormones by a doctor and been told yes it is peri/menopause? Also at what age did you start?

Got tested first time last Sept/Oct. at age 50 and results came back normal - meaning my FSH and TSH or whatever was low. Don't think there's a test that will show if you are in peri. But when you haven't had your period for 12 consecutive months, they can test you for actual meno. All my tests came back normal so Dr. concluded by saying it is "possibly I'm entering meno" b/c I'm at that age. I'm scheduled to have a physical next month so I'll see what my results will be then.

There is no test for perimenopause. They go by your symptoms. My gyne did run hormone tests for me, which will show an inbalance if there is any, and that will be enough to go on. But my estrogen was normal, didn't test my progesterone cause I was taking progesterone at the time. All my hormones were normal, my FSH was rising, that was good enough for her. But she also tested me by a biopsy of the uterine lining for cancer and it came back that my ovaries were not ovulating, so ovulatary shutdown, so therefore at my age 45? Perimenopause. And that's what she told me. Also my endocrinologist for the thyroid told me I was perimenopause with anxiety.
