Tell your story!!!

I just wanted to tell anyone reading this who has had different types of procedures (chemical peels, microdermabrasion, dermabrasion, CO2, any types of lasers) to please tell your story. Basically just what condition your skin was in before, what you did (and how many times), and how your skin was after. It would help a lot of people. -Thanks

Re: Tell your story!!!

I had microdermabrasion a few weeks ago. The prodecure itself feels like a cat vigorously licking your face and at some points like an emery board being dragged across your face.

Right after the procedure I was bit red, but not so much that I felt embarrassed in public. You're advised not to wash your face for at least an hour and a half and couldn't wait to splash cold water on coz it was a bit itchy/stingy (very miminal)

The surface was SO smooth though and very soft - I looked really refreshed.

The redness faded the same day and the next few days your skin feels a bit dry and taut but it color on your face becomes more even.

The only drawback is the price - it cost $220!! If I could afford it, i would do the recommended 5 treatments every 10 days to get maximum results. When I get a better paying job, il'll definately do the full 5 treatments.

Re: Tell your story!!!

Forgot to add:

before the treatment my skin just looked tired and rough (i'd also messed up a self tanning on my face and it was all over the place)

after the treatment the tanner had completely gone (thank goodness!) and i was all shiny and glowing (and a bit red), follwed by dryness and then a calming.

I really think you have to get the 5 treatments though - coz then each time it can go deeper and deeper.

Re: Tell your story!!!

I have sensitive skin, so I first stopped using Retin-A micro, my skin cleared up, then I stopped using benzoyl peroxide, my skin cleared up more, I stopped taking my multivitamins, my skin cleared more, I changed my diet and my skin cleared even more. Now I eat healthy, exercise, wash face twice a day and apply only a light moisturizer and it’s working pretty well for me.

What cleanser do you use? And moisturizer?

My face has recently gotten pretty good, except for a week ago when i ate mexican food for 3 days (lots of cheese) and had a horrible cystic breakout. That is what really showed me the cheese gives me cysts. Well my cysts are minimal now, but i have just a few whiteheads that i can live with, but of course would rather not have them, because i pop em and it gives me more redmarks. I am using clearasil acne bar, and it works great. I use it twice a day and it dries my face out a good amount. But now i don't moisturize, so my face is doing better than when i did moistuize.

I just let my face make its oil, sometimes during a hard working day i get kinda oily, i dab my face with paper towels. Maybe once or twice throughout the day. Ima hop back on b5 for a while, and see what that does. But instead of 11g's ima hit up 6g's. Hope it helps me out even more than what my face is doing now, becase im feeling awesome about it.

I also get insurance July 1st. So i can't wait, first visit to derm will be soon after, and see what he can do for me.

You said $220 for your dermabrasion, is that with insurance?
