Possible PCOS.....And still not preggy........

Okay Girls. I went to the doctor Thursday with pain in my right ovary area. So my M.D. sent me for blood work and a CT of my pelvic and abodomen. Well I called today for the results and the receptionist said she has not had time to read my results yet...Which mad me furious. She told me Thursday that it could be PCOS or a ruptured cyst, well I have been TTC since Sept 2003 and no luck yet. My M.D. told me "aww don't worry infertility
is not a issue until you have been unsucessful for 1 full year" . Which does
not make me feel any better.Maybe I am very impatient but darn she took it with a grain of salt and acted like no big deal.So I told her that I wanted a
referral to a OB/GYN. and she acted offended. She said "I can take care of all your OB needs and until you are pregnant you don't need a GYN". Well that really made me mad... How dare her tell me such a thing.I have the right to seek a Specialist . So needless to say I am switching doctors ASAP.Am I wrong to be so precautious? After all she still has not given me results from tests I had last week...If it was something bad,i could die first..Help ...tell me what ya think...good or bad...thank you in advance...Lorie..

Lorie Ann,
I am convinced that you are doing the right thing. If you are TTC, you need an OB/GYN! I would, however, have those blood tests transferred to your new dr.'s office so that you do not have to repeat. BTW, was this doc an pcp or an internist?

with most insurances an OB Is not considered a "specialist" where you would need a referral.. i would definatley seek help from another source

Re: Possible PCOS.....And still not preggy........

Well I was just diagnosed with PCOS today. I went off the pill in August 2003 and since then have been TTC. I have been very irregular and most of the time I have brown blood. So, since it has been 10 months I went to an ob/gyn/fertility doctor and I was diagnosed with it. After TTC for about 6 months I went to my family doctor and she ran bloodwork. But now after 10 months I went to another doctor.
So no, I think that if you feel you have been trying long enough and you think something might be wrong, you should definitely see a doctor of your choice to try and find out what is going on.

Re: Possible PCOS.....And still not preggy........

Well I went back to the MD today and I have a Large cyst on my right ovary. We had a major arguement over her not calling me with results yesterday. And she was pretty mad at me. She said that the cyst was probably non cancerous due to my age. Which I made it clear that cancer was Big... in my family and that last time I checked cancer did not have a age limit. She was not going to send me to a OB/GYN . She said it would bust and go away and for me not to be concerned. Yeah right!! I am just wondering does having this cyst have anything to do with me not conceiving??? Thanks healthseeker for your post..I am going to take all my test results to my new doctor and she is a regular M.D. not a internist. dh22 thank you also for the post,I have Medicaid and I have to have a referral for anything outside her office.Eye exams, Dental, anything really...and I should just be able to go without permission.I think..But our state rules suck. Jenyfer thank you also,we seem like we are in the same boat.. lol... but I just hope that they do not have to remove the cyst.I hear it hurts to have it done surgically. I hope all of you are doing well... those of you PG. CONGRATS and those of you that aren't yet angelkisses and babydust to you....Lorie
