HPV/Yeast/Aldara

Hi Everyone..

I was diagnosed with genital warts about 2 months ago. My doctor prescribed aldara and the warts went away.. I have had blood tests, and stds tests and they were negative, and a normal pap smear. When i went back a month later after using the aldara for a follow up she said the cream was working but i had irritation. A slight sore, and itching. Ive refrained from sex for the most part even with a monogomas relationship wiht my boyfriend of a year. and the last 4 months ive had sex 2 with a condom with him
The warts are gone but stupid me i still use the aldara cream "just in case" yesterday i used it twice because I had itching and burning and discharge. Ive never had a yeast infection before, but where i put the aldara cream yesterday i got real bad irritation. But i put vaseline on the irritation outside of my vagina and that helped. I also went and got a yeast infection kit and i used it and the itching and burning has subsided.
My insurance ran out last week, so i cant go to the doctor.
Has anyone ever had real bad reaction to Aldara Cream
and anybody relate to a yeast infection.. like what it feels like?
Any input will be greatly appreciated.. Thank you

Re: HPV/Yeast/Aldara

I have had quite a few yeast infections before from taking antibiotics. I never had just an itch in a certain spot. What it felt like to me was intense burning not itching. I also developed an allergy or something to the yeast infection creams. It would burn even worse when I would use them. So the last time i had one I got diflucan from the doctor. It got rid of it and I have not had one since. That was a couple years ago. I did have hpv on my cervix and I seemed to get more yeast infections at that time. They say it is not related but I just thought it was wierd that I had that problem at the time of getting hpv. I never had any on the outside. Just on my cervix. I had the leep and all my paps are negative now. I would think that the cream you are using is probably irritating your skin. Does the doctor say it is ok to use it even though you don't have any visible warts right now?

Re: HPV/Yeast/Aldara

I also have HPV, but used Condolyx gel to treat my warts. I also applied WAY TOO much of the gel-I wanted to get rid of those things!! LOL And boy I was sorry after, because the gel (which is very similar to Aldara, Aldara I heard is stronger) is like an acid and it ate kind of like holes in my skin. My skin down there is still not all the way healed (my last application was about 2 months ago). My doc told me that it would take about 1 year to get looking back to normal or my skin could stay like that forever cause it could have caused scarring (I scar very bad).
I too am a bit paranoid that I have warts all over and need to keep on using the gel...so I just went into the doc and had him look at me to tell me if I needed to use the gel. He said no, so I don't use it anymore. He also told me it is not good to use it when I don't have warts or anything, just because that stuff is so strong!
I haven't heard anything about a link w/yeast infections and HPV. I haven't had a yeast infection w/my HPV. I have had one before, and it's not fun. Yes, it is just like itching and burning-very annoying!
Good luck!
