Unhappy GB Removal on Wednesday

Hi Everyone,

I have been lurking around reading everyone's posts regarding this matter. I am getting my gallbladder removed on Wednesday and to be honest with you, I am very terrified.
It started a year ago and I went to ER thinking I was having a heart attack. They told me it was all in my head and sent me home. Sine then I have had several attacks, lasting no less than 11 hours. This pain has been excruciating.
After confronting my doctor he gave me the appropriate tests and we found out my gallbladder is FULL of stones. I have had 4 attacks in the past week, one sending me back to ER as the perkasets did NOTHING to ease my pain.
I am so scared to go through this surgery, but I cannot live with the pain either. it seems that many of you still live with pain, even after removal. What is the right thing to do??? Live with the pain with gall bladder in tact, or have it removed and still live in some pain. I just don't know what to do. Also during this time I have learned I have CIN III (high grade pre cancerous cells on the cervix) and need surgery as well...
I am just beyond stressed out and would love to have you tell me the truth at what I will face once I get this bugger removed.
Sorry this is so long, but I feel like this is the only place where I can be understood.

Nothing really informative to say since your problems are out of my area. But I would like to say good luck and please keep us posted because your situation and outcome may help many others. Take care!

My husband is going through the same thing. He can't get into the hospital for an ultra-sound until the 14th of this month, but it's almost certain he has gall-stones. Seems like he has pain every other day which lasts hours then goes away. He's losing weight because he's afraid to eat because everything seems to bring on an attack. It's getting to a point where he just wants it out so he can live a normal life again without pain. Please post again and let us know how your surgery went. Good luck to you!

Re: GB Removal on Wednesday

Same here, I am scheduled for next tuesday the 13th at 8 AM. I am also terrified. Have lived with the pain for 2 years now. Mostly because of my fear of hospitals. Parly because at least 10 % of the people who have it removed still have problems afterwards. Why go through the horror of surgery if I am going to be in the 10% with problems afterwards. I was never very good at gambling. I must admit I might not know until the morning of the surgery if I am going to show up or not.

Re: GB Removal on Wednesday

As far as stopping the pain. You need to relax the bile ducts where the stone is trapped. This can be done with an anti spasmodic drug called Bentyl. Or if you are at home two tablespoons of epson salts in warn water. within 30 minutes after taking this the pain should stop. Epson salts contain magnesium which relaxes the bile ducts. Many people swear by this for gb pain relief.
