Glycolic acid?

Has any ever used glycolic acid (10%)? You use it at home and apply it with cotton balls. I was wondering how dry it makes your face and how often you should use it.

Glycolic acid is the BEST - love it. I use a product called AHA Enhanced Cream (10%) by Alpha Hydrox - they're in red packaging and can be found in any drugstore.

I use it every night. Don't use it during the days coz it has a REALLY funky smell!!! Like fish!! (I woke up one night with my cat laying next to me thinking 'urgh, she STINKS' and then realized it me!! haha

I often use it instead of Renova because it doesn't make the skin dry, scaly, red or tired looking.

You really ought to try it. It stings when you apply it but that fades in a minute or so.

Alpha hydroxy acids are acids from fruit and cause a sloughing of the top layer of the skin. Its kind of a peel - though very mild so the skin doesn't actually 'peel'. It gets rid of the top dead layer to reveal the plump layer beneath.

It comes in a cream - of varying strenghts - that you leave on. Though i also have a serum that is stronger which you leave on for 3 minutes. You can also get it done at a spa along with a facial - thats how I found out about it

I guess it helps acne by getting rid of the dead layer of skin that mixes with sebum to create pimple/cysts/etc.

I agree completely. Glycolic has been the single most effective treatment that I have used in getting my skin back to normal after I conquered the breakouts. It has faded the red spots and my skin is soft and supple again. I use a product by MDForte. It is a sensitive skin cleanser and lotion.
