Permanent Hair removal

Hi everyone

I'm a very hairy person which makes me have to wax very often. That isnt really a problem because its become more like a routine than anything else, but from some time now I've been thinking about permanent hair removal from certain areas of my body like face, underarms or bikini line.

But now that I'm thinking of this more carefully some doubts have come to my mind, such as effectiveness, pain, costs, etc

I also found out (after a small research online) that there are different tecniques to get it done but i'm not sure whats the best one to my case.

Can you please help me out by giving me some ideas of your experience or your friends?

thank you so much

Lili

Lili,

Maybe I can help with this one.

I am in the process of having LHR done now. They are using Coolglide on me. I did tons of research on it before hand and decided this would probably work best for me. I have the problem on my neck and chin, and have for years.

One sessions for mine costs me $150.00. You usually have to have several treatments, due to the fact that hair grows in cycles. After the first one I had, it took 8 weeks for enough to grow in before the 2nd one. That was a pleasant surprise, as it is sometimes only a month for some people.
I'm keeping my fingers crossed it will only take one more.

Any others questions let me know.

Donna

Re: Permanent Hair removal

Thank you for the tips Donna

I'm really considering it and the face is the most problematic place, therefore more worth the money

But is it painful? Do you get any swollen or red marks?

Just keep telling me how its going for you and any more info you consider important. All the input is welcomed

Lili

Re: Permanent Hair removal

Lili,

Pain was my LEAST consideration..lol I wanted this hair gone so badly, I think I would have taken lots worse pain for a few minutes to lose it.

Actually, it wasn't so bad at all. More like a snap with a rubber band kind of thing, and since it only lasted a couple of minutes, it was no problem.

Afterwards, it was a bit red, and stung some for an hour or two. Nothing unbearable, just noticeable. After a few hours the redness was gone. They gave me some cream to put on it.
The only thing I noticed later was the skin looked odd for a day or so, felt uneven. Makeup covered it easily.

The hair began to fall out on about day 10, and continued for a week or so. To my amazement, I only had about 10 dark hairs left! I waited until I began to see a bit more coming back in, before I went back, which was last week.

The best thing about it at this point is, most all the darkness left from the 5 o'clock shadow, that I had previously had after shaving there, was gone.
I had plucked for years, but several weeks prior to the LHR, they want you to shave it instead, so the root is still in place for the laser to destroy. That was very hard for me to do, I guess an emotional thing, as a woman.

If you have any light, or white hair there, it won't really get rid of it, because it only targets darker hair. If you have any left, electrolysis will take care of it. I also have some darker pigmentation from plucking so many years, which I hope will lighten up some now. Another kind of laser should help that, if needed. I am trying some Renova, and am also using the glycolic peels as well.

I consider this one of the best things I have done for myself, because of the emotional aspects of it bothering me for years. I can't believe what it has done for my self confidence.

Not sure if it's allowed, but there is a web forum devoted entirely to this subject, and gives lots of info and support for those with that problem, that I could point you to. That's where I got my 'education" on the subject, and it helped me tremendously.

Good luck,
Donna

Re: Permanent Hair removal

Oh Donna!!!

You can't imagine how good it feels to have someone that understands me in this matters!!!

No matter how much people say they understand, I guess only who goes through the problem can really judge the feeling inside. I think you are right, after being through waxing for so long having a little pain is nothing, specially if the results are good in the end

On my face the main problem is the sides (dont know the name .. sorry my lack of english) and my upper lip, so I usually wax these areas every week or 2 weeks max.

I've got that problem of getting darker skin of places i tend to wax allot, specially my underarms, started using a special cream for it a few days ago and hopefully it will work, I'll keep you informed if you want.

I'll make a search of this subject to get 'educated' on it and the next step will be getting an appointment.

Once again thank you so much
