estrogen deficieny: anyone know anything about this?

Hi,
I know this is an acne board but I was hoping someone might have some info to share with me on this. I went to my doc and got my hormones checked (since I've been on BC for more than 3 months) and we found out that I have basically NO testosterone and estrogen but I have High other male hormones. Does anyone else have low estrogen levels; mine is like 40-50 (normal range is 90-100something). In the meantime by doc prescribed a estrogen cream for my face (won't effect my internal estrogen level so we can measure it again when I have been off BC for 2 months). Has anyone used this cream before??? he said the cream should help with the acne...I have never heard of this before..thanks

mmmmmm ive heard of estrogen dominance.,..an estrogen cream for your face???????? that sounds really bizarre. usually hormone creams are prescribed so hormones can be absorbed easier by the blood stream-as in the case of menopausal women and progestorone creams. but i have never heard of a particular benefit concerning hormones on your face topically! check this guys credentials..........and if your hormones are this out of wack he should be changing your bcps or adjusting the dosage.......not giving you creams!

he won't change my BCPs, he wants me to go on bio-identical hormones. I know it's really weird. I'm starting to wonder about it also. I got my first acne cyst today so I was pretty down. But I don't want to quit BC since I've been on them for 4 months (in case they are going to work 2 months down the road)...are you on BC stasia? I'm sooo confused right now...

how do you check a doctor's credentials?

If you are on BCP, a doctor will make you stop the BCP for a couple of months and then test your hormone levels. There is no way that they can get an accurate reading when your hormone levels are being influenced by the pill. Sounds like a quack to me!
