Re: blue light therapy

I ended up doing two 4 week sessions of the Blue Light treatment. I didn't really help me though. i still broke out but not as much. I get deep cysts but it did cut those down...some. However, there were other people that did it in my derm's office that did it and had amazing results.

Re: blue light therapy

My derm had just bought the light so she was looking for test cases. Because I had been coming there so long (3 years) and nothing was working she let me do the sessions for a reduced price. Basically you go twice a week for 4 weeks. She only charged me my copay ($30) for an entire week. She did not send the bill into my insurance company as they do not cover the treatments (it's considered cosmetic). I'm not sure what she charges for it now. Her practice has a medical side and cosmetic side. The blue light is now on the cosmetic side and insurance doesn't cover any of it. which sucks!

I ended up having to do 2 full sessions b/c after 4 weeks I still was breaking out. After 8 weeks I still was breaking out. So, she put me on Zithromax (1 3x a week) and coming in for acne surgery & chemical peels. It seems that my face has calmed down now but I don't know if that's b/c I went to the beach (the sun usually clears up my skin - short term though) or it just took my face that long to respond to the treatments. Most people (from what I hear) react to the treatments right away.

Good luck!
