POLL: Male VS Female Treatments

Hey all,
Well after talking with some of you or reading your posts I started to wonder if there are certain treatments that are more effective or more preferred based on one's gender. I'm primarily looking for those of you that have found success in Internal Treatment Methods such as: Vitamins, Herbs, Dietary/Nutritonal Supplements, Detox/Cleansings, Dietary Changes, Oral Prescription Drugs, etc.

If you are one of these people, would you please answer the following questions:

1. Gender & Age

2. What are your current effective Oral/Internal treatments?

3. What was your (most) effective internal treatment method, but you had to give up for some reason?

4. What were your past internal treatment methods?

5. Have you been diagnosed with having a specific health or hormonal disorder?

Thanks in advance =)

Re: POLL: Male VS Female Treatments

1. Gender & Age
37 yrs.

2. What are your current effective Oral/Internal treatments?
Internal Treatment: 100mg spiro. This is the only treatment that has worked. Accutane worked, but my acne came back after 6 mos. I have been 99% clear after about 2 months of starting spiro. I get an occational pimple here and there, but nothing major. I should mention that I do not suffer from cystic acne. My acne is small plugs (white/black) that are easily extracted, however I get alot of them.

3. What was your (most) effective internal treatment method, but you had to give up for some reason?
Minocin. Became allergic.

4. What were your past internal treatment methods?
Tetracyclin, Accutane

5. Have you been diagnosed with having a specific health or hormonal disorder?
No.

Re: POLL: Male VS Female Treatments

I can't believe that no one else on this board uses oral treatments to get clear. =0 OK, well here's my answers:

1. Female, age 23

2. Dietary Changes - specifically Gluten Free, Diary Free, avoidance of peanuts, cashews, pistachios, bananas, sodas, non-100% juice, most refined foods, bad preservatives, and trans fats. 99% clear as a result. [I am starting on a lower dose of Spiro (100mg) because it and Dietary changes, so far, were the most effective combo for my hirsutism (ceasing the spiro, made most unwanted hair return)]

3. 3 months on Minocycline (w/ BC & Spiro) produced 95% clarity, but when I stopped, I broke out horribly and in new areas for over a year (Mino boosts DHT production, but reduces inflammation so you don't notice).

4. Metaformin (1 g, but 3 months on this didn't help and made me sick). Avandia (2mg, 60% - 65% mprovment). Birth Control (Tri-Levlen, 50% Improvement). Depending on the season, summer at my clearest, BC - Spiro = 65% - 80% clarity and Avandia - Spiro = 75% - 85% clarity. Saw Palmetto (1200 - 2400mg, nothing). I have used other herbs and supplements over the years but not long enough (3 - 6 months) to place a definative judgement on them.

5. 3 years ago I was diagnosed as having Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS) or Insulin Resistance. Insulin Resistance is the precursor to PCOS and Hyperinsulinemia has been associated with Hyperandrogenic disorders such as PCOS. I guess that's why the Insulin Sensitizing & Anti-androgen medications helped a lot, but changes in my diet were the most effective.

Re: POLL: Male VS Female Treatments

1. Gender & Age

male/20

2. What are your current effective Oral/Internal treatments?

diet that excludes dairy, gluten and refined carbohydrates but more importantly includes plenty fruits and vegetables, nuts and fish. Following this diet has the added benefit of nearly completely preventing very nasty headaches I suffer from otherwise and preventing very dry scaly skin I would easily get on my knuckles.

3. What was your (most) effective internal treatment method, but you had to give up for some reason?

I though it was the Paleo diet, but I am no worse off on a diet I can gain (and have gained) lots of muscle on.

4. What were your past internal treatment methods?

Nothing I can comment on with any amount of certainty.

5. Have you been diagnosed with having a specific health or hormonal disorder?

Negative

Sweetjade, do you know the specific reason for the problems that you have with peanuts, cashews and bananas? -or do you just know you have a personal intollerance to them?

-I can happily eat large quantitys of cashews no problem, haven't tried peanuts, they are hard to find raw/uncooked/unsalted/without vegetable oil.
