Epilum & RA

Hi Everyone,
I am new to the site and this is my first time discussing Epilepsy with anyone in thirty years, it was always a closet thing of mine in my family, thanks for takeing the time to read this. I am interested in any comments, advice or experiences of mixing Epilim with the following methotreaxate, Hydroxychloroquine, Leflunomine (Arava), Diclofenac Sodium & Folic Acid. My GP is horrified at the RA Specialist (Rhuematoid Arthritis) and even the Pharmacist has expressed his concerns over the doseages, and mixture. The RA specialist say I have to have it or I will be in a wheelchair, but if it affects my epilum and I take a seizure that won't be good. I am also concerned over my liver as Epilim Methotrexate Lef. and Hydr all affect the liver. I am always tired, I have lost a lot of hair, and shocking mood swings. I would be grateful for any advice. Thanks Karen-Ann

Re: Epilum & RA

Well the only one I can help you with is folic acid... it is EXTREMELY important for women who want to have children to have folic acid and ten times more important for those of us with epilepsy. Most medications prescribed for seizures are notorious for depleating the system of vitamins and other natural supplements. Folic acid is definately one of them. That's odd that you're neuro would caution you on it unless there is a different connection between that and Epilum that I'm not familiar with.
