Lightbulb Perm Laser Hair Removal for Blonde Hair

I overheard some people talking yesterday and one mentioned a new laser on the market that can be effective at permanent facial (or body) hair removal for those with red, grey and/or blonde hair. Versus the treatments now that target the color of the hair and the hair needs to be dark. Apparently, this new laser targets below the surface of the skin, to the blood vessels that feed the hair follicle, therefore killing the follicle regardless of hair color. Anyone have any information on this? I was unable to locate on the web and don't know where to start.

Thanks

Re: Perm Laser Hair Removal for Blonde Hair

I have had laser hair removal at my dermatologist's office for my underarms. I have some weird blonde and white hairs on my chin and I asked about having them removed. The laser girl said she can do it, but it's more expensive, takes twice as long, and tends not to have as good of results. You also have to use a topical product called Meladine in between treatments, which is very expensive. The laser girl actually said I'm better off getting electrolysis. She said in most cases, electrolysis can be faster and less expensive. If you search for Meladine on the web, you should be able to find info on laser hair removal for light colored hair.

Re: Perm Laser Hair Removal for Blonde Hair

There is a new laser out there that is FDA approved to remove light-colored hair. Most other lasers MAY work on blonde hair, but are not guaranteed. I'm not sure if this laser has a different name or anything, but make sure to just ask the dermatologist if it works on blonde hair.
