Moisturizing after tanning?

I know that when you self-tan you should moisturize often because it helps extend your tan. But it seems like when I moisturize, my tan fades faster! So I started thinking and I've come to believe that the moisturizers that I'm using must have some ingredient in them thats maybe exfoliating my skin a little bit, like an alpha hydroxy acid or something. I don't know what actual ingredients are causing this problem so I don't know what to keep an eye out for when looking for a better moisturizer. Anyone know of any good moisturizers that are gentle and won't interfere with my sunless tan and actually help prolong it? Thanks!

Re: Moisturizing after tanning?

HI.

After I tan, I always take a shower. Then, I rub a light mixture of baby oil and water on my skin. This does not have any harsh chemcials, so it should be ok.

It may clog your pores if your skin is sensitive.

For me, it works great.

Re: Moisturizing after tanning?

Wait, are you talking about tanning in a bed or self-tanning? I self-tan, so I can't shower right after cuz it would rinse the tanning stuff off. Baby oil might work, but I think I'd prefer something less, well, oily lol

OOPS,
Yes, I was talking about a tanning bed.

But maybe the baby oil/water will work for self tanners.
