true hypoallergenic cosmetics??

Can anyone recommend a cosmetic brand that's TRULY hypoallergenic? I've been using Almay for years with good success, but it's not working for me now. I'm 63 years old and if I ever needed to use makeup, it's now! Help me please!

Re: true hypoallergenic cosmetics??

*Hypoallergenic* or *allergy-tested* means absolutely nothing. It's simply a marketing term used by cosmetic companies that means they didn't include an ingredient *known* to cause a reaction. Well, there is still a possibility that you can react to the ingredients they DID use - and that there haven't been enough people react to it for it to be called an irritant/allergen.

If you react to a variety of products, you can try to pinpoint the common factor. For a lot of people, the culprit is fragrance, preservatives, or color. Some react to plant extracts. A common ingredient found in foundations that causes itching is bismuth oxychloride.

So you might want to check the ingredients of the products that cause you to have a reaction, to see if you can determine which ingredient(s) is/are causing the problem.

Thanks for the reply and information. I didn't know that! Well, it looks like quite a search.

Re: true hypoallergenic cosmetics??

Illuminaire Foundation actually improved my skin, or, at least it seems that way to me. I've even slept over night in it without a problem.
