Question DRX9000 Yes or No?

My Dr. recently suggested that I undergo treatment with the DRX9000 to relieve pain resulting from a car accident 8 years ago. I have bulging disks at L4-L5 and L5-S1. I had much numbness down both legs and under both feet last year, which were helped greatly by conventional traction. However, I'm interested in knowing whether or not it's worth the expense to try the DRX9000. All experiences welcome. Thanks!

Hi, Maverick!

Welcome to the boards. Do a search on DRX9000 and you'll get an earfull! I did it last year (26 sessions!) just prior to my fusion at L5/S1. However, I have much more going on and many more levels (95% of my spine is dried up) so I don't think there was much there in the first place to "rehydrate".

I do believe that it is VERY beneficial with herniations and bulges. Not so much with dried cracked discs like mine.

Do that search and then let me know what you think. Husker went through quite a bit. Good luck!

BTW - like my name? Are you a Husker fan? You know they aren't even rated this year!?! They have some climbing to do - but, once a fan, always a fan!

Hey there--today is my 3rd treatment from the DRX9000 and so far the best word that describes it is....ouchie!!! No relief yet, but I really need to give it some more time I guess. Last night the gal "forgot" to hook the strap that holds my "top half" up so when the machine pulled my "bottom half" I kept slipping down the table and the pegs that hold my arms dug a nice hole into my armpits---she finally came back in to check on me and I had to start the thing all over!!! Plus last night and tonight the weight is increased so that should be really fun!! If your doc has an electostimulator machine for after treatment...take him up on it!! It helps the muscles afterwards!! Good luck and let us know how you do!!

Thanks, GBR and Karen! I did a search and sorted through the posts with respect to the DRX9000. Sounds like reactions are fairly mixed, though leaning toward promising (due to my type of injury).

GBR-you mentioned that you did 26 sessions. That's about 10 more than they said they expected to do on me. Did you start out knowing that was in the cards for you or did they add treatments at the end to see if they'd help? BTW, I'm a big Maverick (UNO) Hockey fan, but have always been a Husker!

Karen-please keep me posted on how it goes. I know 3 treatments is too early to be a clear indication, but I'm interested in how things progress for you.

I have to say that after reading posts from the both of you and many others on this board, it's clear things could be a lot worse for me. Thanks for lending me some courage and positive attitudes--they will certainly help.

Should tell you I worked at Rocky Flats for a couple of years (Sep 91-Oct 93) and lived in Westminster and Northglen. Maybe it's a Colorado thing ;-)

Thanks for your help.

Hi, again, Maverick

So, in addition to being a Husker, and a Maverick you also glow! (sorry, couldn't help it!)

I know right where you're talking, though. My daughter lives in Thornton - we live in Loveland.

I knew from the beginning that we would be doing more sessions than normal protocol. Both of us (the dr. & myself) were a little skepticle but it was worth a shot to keep me out of surgery.

Karen, do you find the pain excruciating when you get off the table? OMG, everytime except for the last 2 or 3 I would buckle with the pain and almost go down. I told my surgeon what I was doing and he thought I was nuts! But, also, that it was worth a try. So, Maverick, be prepared for that - it really did almost make me black out.

Karen, I hope your sessions help you and that you find huge relief! Are you also on nutritional supplements? I found those to be beneficial as well and also the simulator - AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH! the ice was wonderful, too.

Good luck to both of you - I sure hope it works for the two of you.

Hey, Karen - DUH!! What a ditz I am - you are just right down the road from me!
