Post antibiotics and Yasmin

Quick poll:

#1: Has anyone been "cured" after using antibiotics, or does acne ALWAYS come back?

#2: Can Yasmin users post an update on progress, parrticularly those BCP users who made a switch from something else to Yasmin!

THANKS!

I just switched from Lo-Estrin 1.5/30 to Yasmin over 3 weeks ago. I have noticed a difference already in my mood, my skin, and my menstrual cycle. When I was on Lo-estrin, I broke out during my period, felt extremely bloated, and was very moody. Now I don't have any of those problems. Just mild cramps on my first day. I was surprised to find out I was put on the most androgenic birth control pill out there. That was a mistake. Yasmin is great so far!!

I was on antibiotics for years....several different kinds. Although I saw some slight improvements, I didn't ever have fully clear skin. I went off antibiotics (oral) and now only use Differn gel, Benzaclin, and I take Niafol tablets which are a prescription vitamin with zinc and B vitamins.

This has improved my skin far better than the antibiotics ever did. I still have some break outs during periods but NOTHING like the cysts I experienced most of my life. I started taking Yasmin in January as birth control but also as an aid to keep my face clear. I did have an initial little break out on my chin which was rare. After that I was pretty clear.

Late March, I had surgery and I decided to go off the Yasmin because of fear of blood clots. I will probably go back on when when period returns in May. I experienced no weight gain while on it, I still got my premenstral headache but that came without the pill anyway, My face is completely clear, I experienced no bloating, I did have increased thirst at night, and my periods did get shorter with less cramping while on it.

I have been on every antibiotic under the sun. What generally happens to me is that they work really well at first, then gradually start to quit working. I would eventually switch to a different a/b because it had quit working. My acne always came back.

As for Yasmin, I think it is wonderful. I have been on Ortho-Tricyclen and Ortho-Cyclen. Broke out on both and felt moody, bloated, etc. Yasmin has helped clear my skin and I have had no moodiness or other bad effects. In fact, I have lost about 6 pounds since I started taking it, which is always good!

Hope this helps.
