Incision Scars

I had a surgey a few days ago.

My doctor said he had to re-break the bones intentionally.

I am a bit worried about it. He made a diagonal incision along the bridge of the nose just above where the cast is placed. He said it was the only way to get succesfully break the bone. I have never heard of this before.

Have You guys experienced this before ???

I believe that he could have made a mistake and accidentally peirced through the skin from inside when rasping/breaking the nose. The incision is about an inch at the top of my nose.

Red face Re: Incision Scars

I cannot guarantee that that is a mistake - but I have done a lot of reading about rhinoplasty and had three surgeries myself and I have never heard of that. I would suggest that you use some scar reduction - ask your doctor(or another doctor) about how you can minimize the scarring - there are several new techniques including special bandages and (at a later stage) lasers that can minimize scarring.

Re: Incision Scars

Yeah my research has been extensive also. I go in tommorow to get the cast off and sutures out. Unlike after surgery, I wont be groggy and drugged this time . I'll ask my Doc tommorow and drill him with questions. I fit is a mistake it's an inch long mistake.

Thanks

Re: Incision Scars

I think your theory may be right. But your doctor will not admit it. I would go for a second opinion. Sounds like you may have a case to me.

Re: Incision Scars

did you check out this guys qualifications? Make sure you have a reputable physician before you proceed. Check out everything you can find out like licenses, any major complaints filed.. etc. DOn't end up looking far worse than beofre the procedure.. I have seen it happen more than once. Make sure your surgeon is completely trained in the qualifiation that he is going to fix on you. A ounceof prevention is worth a pound of
cure.
