A few years ago, the researchers at the
Center for Science in the Public Interest, a Washington nutritional watchdog group, analyzed what's in movie popcorn. They found that even without butter, a large order has more than a day's worth of fat and two days' worth of artery-clogging saturated fat. If you add butter, you'll be consuming the fat equivalent of eight Big Macs!
You can read all about it from their report - it's off an org site so I assume it's safe to post a link. A snippet: "the smallest servings we found (a kid-size at Cineplex Odeon or a small bag at AMC) contain 20 grams of fat, 14 of them saturated... That’s close to three-quarters of your sat fat limit for an entire day."
