Re: water

You do need more water while dieting, because lots of products of fat and protein burning are very hard on some of the organs of the body and it's best to ease them out with frequent dilute urination.

Some people go to the extreme of a couple gallons of water a day which can do more damage than good.
A gallon a day might be a reasonable amount if losing weight at a fair clip (more of course if sweating profusely or excercising hard.)

If you see darker urine, more water is called for.

Aim for 2 litres a day, that would be eight 8oz glasses. This should do it for you.

As for bloating, you'd think it would, right? It's not the case though. Your body only holds onto what it isn't getting enough of. If you eat too little your body stops burning fat because it's concerned there is a shortage of energy / calories - it holds onto stored fat (stored energy). If you eat adequate calories, but still keep them below what you need to maintain your weight, fat is burned. The same holds true for water; if you give your body what it needs to function optimally, then it will let go of what it doesn't need and if you withhold water it will hold onto what it does get.

Cheers,
Nat

Re: water

Walgreens has a handy 2.2 litre jog that is a good gauge for measuring how much water you drink. If you are like me and only drink water then you'll drink that litre and even more in a day.
