Aim for 2 litres a day, that would be eight 8oz glasses. This should do it for you.
As for bloating, you'd think it would, right? It's not the case though. Your body only holds onto what it isn't getting enough of. If you eat too little your body stops burning fat because it's concerned there is a shortage of energy / calories - it holds onto stored fat (stored energy). If you eat adequate calories, but still keep them below what you need to maintain your weight, fat is burned. The same holds true for water; if you give your body what it needs to function optimally, then it will let go of what it doesn't need and if you withhold water it will hold onto what it does get.
