Concerta questions

Hello all, I am a recently diagonsed ADD patient and I have been taking Straterra with no effect except making me sleep and real emotional. Today my doc gave me Concerta 27mg and Provigil 200mg. Its been about 5 hrs into the dose and i really dont feel any sort of increase in focus, how long does it take to kick in and what will the effects feel like? I am tempted to take the Provigil now but am unsure as to what that may do. Any suggestions or experiences to share. I work nights so its no problem for me to be awake at this hour. Actually only think i feel now is a little awake but still a bit tired like partof me is awake but a certain part of me thinks i should be sleeeping. very weird. Please help.

Re: Concerta questions

I've been taking it for a few days and it's not doing much to help me attention wise. I originally started using it because I didn't want the effects of Ritalin. But this doesn't grab you by the horns like Adderal (sp?) or Ritalin.

Re: Concerta questions

The non-stimulant meds can take a few weeks to feel the effects and you must take it every day as opposed to the stimulants that can be taken when needed.

Re: Concerta questions

Concerta is ritalin in a time release form. But your dose sounds way to low.

Here is a quote someone wrote just for you:

"Although Pediatricians often start with low doses when starting a stimulant, keep in mind that in a recent study 95% of kids were either on the 36mg or 54mg strength tablets, so don't give up on Concerta if the lower dosages don't seem to be working."

Re: Concerta questions

I thought the concerta was a stimulant. Also, I feel more awake but definetly not more motivated. Last night(my first night on concerta) was the first night that i was not tired or sleepy without having at least 8+ hours of sleep during the day. Also, it is safe for me to take the Provigil(200mg) along with the Concerta 27mg?
