Is air hunger a normal symptom of Mitral valve prolapse?

Hi, Ive just been diagnosed with mitral valve prolapse with mild regurgitation. My main symptom is a feeling of air hunger all the time - doesn't get to much worse with exercise. Ive had it for 7 years and its almost driven me crazy!!!!!!! the cardiologist didnt think that the mvp should be causing my air hunger feeling but im not so sure. Does any one else know about this?
Im 25, female, thin and reasonably fit, the breathlessness feeling has gotten much worse for the last 2 months and Ive almost stopped living life very depressed, a bit anxious and scared.
