All Chronic pain sufferer's please respond!

I have been doing a lot of soul searching and even been on the pain management board some to. They are all concerned with addictions as well but due to pain are forced to just live with it because of quality of life reasons.

My question is Tomorrow I start day 19 without any Suboxone. Two days ago I had a major flair up of Fibromyalgia( a connective tissue disease) that has me hurting about at the 6-7 level with 10 being the highest. Motrin, Advil, Aleve hot baths , nothing I have found has slowed it. I have to be real careful with anti inflam drugs because a little too much and I will have internal bleeding.

While I was on Suboxone , I had no real pain to deal with. It must have been enough to stave it off. Constipation was my worst enemy and if I ate a high fiber diet I could control it. All this time I did not abuse because I did not want to abuse. I also knew that no opiates would work with Suboxone.

I lived in fear of that 9-10 pain that I have had before. What would happen if it struck me while on the Sub. ? What would I do? What would the Doctor's do? When you get to 9-10 level believe me you will jump off a building if you don't get relief. Or even get so bad as to pass out. I believe if you stayed there long enough you would actually start sweating blood.

Now here is where the rubber meets the road, What do you do when you can't control chronic pain? I am so scared because I know what happens when I hit 8. I am in the hospital and they are giving me IV pain meds.

It is a no win situation. Can a person really stay on a maintnance dose of opiate without building a tolerence? That is why we keep increasing our dosage. I don't really even know the ingredients of Suboxone but I used it for about 3 month period and never noticed a need to increase a dosage. Why is this? People who have been on it a year, Have you had the need to up your dosage or built a tolerence?

I just don't know what to do.......................live in pain and be afraid of the day number 10 hits you. Do you just jump off the building or do you go back to using and live the life of a addict again. Constantly having to increase your dosage to fight the tolerence. It's a catch 22.

your thoughts and ideas are appreciated,
fisherman

Hi, fisherman. I don't post much but I do read here a lot. Am 3 months clean from hydros. so far my back pain has not returned. Sounds like you need a new plan of action for your fibro. Will your doctor help or have you seen a pain management doc? If you are determined to stay off the opiates there are bound to be some other options out there, I just don't know what they are! Please don't give up hope....will be praying that you find some relief.

Hi fisherman,

Well, I have to say firstly, congrats on day 19 without Sub. You are truly a success story here. I am sorry about your fibro pain. I am a chronic pain sufferer as well. I live in pain, but its not a 7 or 8. Its on a scale of 5 and frankly, I have had it for 7 years now and just live with it. My sleeping patterns have suffered the most from it and that is what gets me.

Well the pain is how to bear without pain meds of some sort. Does it hurt 24/7? I'm sorry but I don't know anyone that has fibro therefore am unknowledgeable of the symptoms. Have you tried everything? Subutex works for pain because it is an opiate as well.

I'm sorry I don't have all of the answers for you. flyfishingdaddy seems to know more than I about the subject. I would just try his suggestions.

Take care. Love from
