Are these PVC's???

I've taken my first dose of Celexa last night and I noticed this little feeling in my chest a couple of hours afterwards. When I checked my pulse, my heartbeat was like this:

"boom boom boom ba-boom...pause...boom boom boom"

Whenever I would get an anxious feeling, my heart would have 2 beats in VERY close succession. So close that they would feel like a single beat. And then a pause before the next beat. Like as if just that one beat is out of place.

Are these PVCs that I'm experiencing? Can nervousness cause these? Can meds cause them as well?

Re: Are these PVC's???

sounds like a PVC....and most doctors will tell you that there is nothing to worry about. However I had the same thing happen about 3 days before my heart attack. SO, yes it could be nothing but then again it could be leading up to something. They may be caused by fatigue, caffeine, alcohol, nicotine or a variety of other factors. In many cases, the cause of PVCs is unknown.
Some people may feel skipped beats or galloping palpitations, and other people may not notice PVCs at all. In general, these irregular beats are harmless. However, diagnosing them and ruling out heart disease may be important. As mine were caused from a leaky valve and now have to be put on meds until eventually, I will need a replacemant valve. I hope this helps....

Re: Are these PVC's???

I can feel them every 5-10 beats or so right now. I feel it in my neck when I have one. It's very subtle, but I know that's what it is when I feel that. And I have an urge to cough right afterwards. If I would never have checked my pulse, I probably would never have noticed them.

I would say it's either the Celexa or the fatigue. I haven't been sleeping well for the past couple of days. I also have them a lot when I'm feeling anxious.

I have been hypertensive since I was a kid (155/85). Probably anxiety related (white-coat). Not yet treated. But I don't think the two are related. Just thought I'd mention it.

Re: Are these PVC's???

Thanks. Yet, I'm not even sure if these are PVC's I'm experiencing. Most ECG pics I've seen on PVC's have a heartbeat slightly before it should. But mine are actually WAY before! Right after the previous one! The two heartbeats that are so close together, they are hardly indistinguishable as being 2 separate beats. Like this...

.....|........|........||............... .|........|........||................|

The ECG's I've seen describing PVC's are less dramatic and look more like this...

....|........|........|.....|........... |........|........|.....|...........|

Are these still PVC's in your opinion?
