Question Dizzy and Fainting

hi my name is nancy, this might sound strange but about five months ago i started getting dizzy. it happend about twice a week. only when i stood up. then it started happening every day. all day long .to the point where i now faint. went to doctors, says i have hi blood pressure. i am 5'8 and weight 110 -120, dependes if it is a good week. they gave me atenolol to take. (think they should look to see way blood pressure is high.?) it lowered my blood pressure .but i am still fainting and always dizzy. they have run all different kinds of blood test ( i forgot to tell you i have pancreatitis. ) all come back fine. have elevated levels because of c.p. so they still don't know why i am fainting. it is now starting to scare me. i am unable to do anything. i have always been active in sports and work outside. now i am stuck in the house afraid to get up, set, walk, or lay down. I have shortness of breath and now have a kedney infection that just won't go away.could any of the medications i take be causing me to faint? the doctor said no. but heres a list.
antenolol, compazine, meclizine, reglan, creon, aciphex, albuterol, loratadine, pyridium, levaguin, one a day vitamin and ciprofloxacine. not all at the same time.
any advice?

Re: Dizzy and Fainting

I have been battling dizziness since last May when they increased BP meds. Have finally discovered that I am getting dizzy when getting out of bed due to BP dropping too much for "me". A hypertension specialist suggested if sit on side of bed 2 minutes, raise legs up and down on tiptoes 10 times, sit for 1 more minute then get up. This is helping and has basically eleminated the dizzyness. In the meantime I had to reduce amount of BP meds. Don't tinker with your BP meds unless you feel safe in doing so. I now can drive again.

The test I was told to do was the following:

Before getting out of bed in the morning.....take BP 3 times.
Stand up and take BP every minute for 5 minutes.
Raise up and down stepping on tiptoes 10 times.
Take BP every minute for 3 minutes.

This will indicate what your BP is doing when you stand up.

Apparently raising legs up and down helps raise BP enough that when it drops when standing up it will not be too low causing dizziness.

For 6 days I have been free of dizziness. If I get up from sitting still too fast I will get a little sense of light head. Have to think about it before getting up and do so very slow.

It has been the pitts being dizzy for so long.

Hope this will be of help.

You may wish to search internet for each of your medications for the side effects and find out which ones may contribute to dizziness.
