Post Eczema - makeup suggestions

The entire area around my eyes is deep red (with some white flaking), sometimes a bit swollen and very itchy. Four weeks ago I was diagnosed by my dermatologist as having eczema. He prescribed Elidel cream which I have been apply twice a day. However, my eyes are still red and itchy. I cannot wear any eye makeup because they all burn and increase the redness of the area. Any cover-up makes the flakes even more noticeable under my eyes (the area seems very dry). I also wear contact lenses. Any suggestions for makeup that I will be able to wear (i.e. mascara, eye shadow) and/or use to cover up this problem (concealer)? How much longer till the Elidel cream takes effect? What other products would help ease my stinging/itching? Thank you!

Sorry to hear that, but I completely understand what you are going through. I have problems now and again from eczema and I know its unsightly. I really think you should just leave makeup off for now because it may irritate you further. When it clears up I recommend you get some new cosmetics for your eyes. Make sure to keep them fresh since you have this condition. Applying cosmetics to conceal a flaky red condition such as eczema will only highlight the problem. I hope it clears up for you soon.
