Question Hi there, i'm new here/also,caught my 1st STD/tried zithromax now doxilin/need advice

Hi there,

I'm new to this message board. I never sought any online help before, hence the reason i did not discover this gem of a message board.

Kudos to the administrators & members!!!!!!

OK, my quik story;

10 days ago, I had sexual intercourse with a girl (in her late 20's) I picked up at a bar. We had protected vaginal and anal intercourse. Although the sex was kind of intense, the condom never broke!

However, we did kiss, and she did give me unprotected oral sex. I also recall her inserting/probing her index into my anus during oral sex (I never asked her for this, she just initiated it, and it actually did feel good).

2 days later, i start getting a burning sensation below, and what seemed to be minute amounts of green pus coming out from the tip. On the 4th day after sex, I consulted my family MD, who referred me to a Microbilogy & Infectious Diseases expert.

At this point, there were important amounts of pus accumulating on my underwear, but more importantly was the horrific pain that I was feeling every time I had to urinate!

He took a swab, and prescribed Zithromax (4 pills that I had to take in 1 shot). he said that if I didn't feel better in 3 days, that I had to see him again.

Sure enough, it didn't get better. When i saw him again (exactly 1 week after intercourse), he asks, "I didn't take a urine sample from you?"

uhhhhh.........no doc..you didn't!

I had Canada's chief Microbiologist forget to take a urine sample. In any case, I gave him 2 samples, plus he prescribed me Doxilin (also known as Doxy-cycline)

Now, i am on my 3rd day of this medication (must stay on for 10 days/ 2 pills per day), and I must say that the burning is getting less, albeit a little, but still less. I can say that hopefully, I am on my way. He will let me know in 2 days what it is exactly that I contracted. He thinks I may have caught something from her mouth! I'm no MD, but I have classic symptoms of Gono or Chlamydia.

But, just last night, I noticed something: My eyes are full of mucous/discharge (you know when you wake up, and your eyes have a little mucous built up in the tear duct!?!?)

Well that's what I have, but a lot. Every time I close my eyes to sleep or nap, I wake up to tons of green discharge from my ducts. My eyes are blood-shot. It looks like I've sobbed for 10 days straight.
My eyes are in a tolerable type of low-grade pain, but this still bothers me.

I called my pharmacist (because of course they forgot to give me the sheet with all the secondary effects). The pharmacist seemed clueless with respect to the eye/discharge thing.

She, expectedly, said to consult my MD if it persists.

Can you guys offer me your advice please? Thanks so much

(And any other advice regarding my first crappy std experience would be greatful)

Green discharge from your eyes indicates an eye infection. You MUST seek treatment for this ASAP.

And yes, you can get an STD from someone's mouth, unfortunately. Didn't the doctor culture the discharge? You can make a more accurate diagnosis from that. I wonder how he "forgot" to do these tests? Anyway, hopefully the doxy will clear up your problem.

Don't you find it to be a response from the medication, seeing that I just started it 2 days ago (the mucous from the eyes).

if it were indeed an infection, don't you find it odd that it is both eyes as opposed to just one eye.

i feel that based on the fact that it is both eyes equally, and that I just started a new med, that it is probably a side-effect, no?

In any case, i will call my MD tomorrow and make sure to tell him about my eyes.

Again, i can tolerate it , but it is bothersome.

You know when the mucous sometimes goes right onto your eyeball, and you have to blink a few times to get rid of it. well, that's what is happening to me (alot!)

Green discharge from your eyes, plus pain, is NOT a side effect of doxycycline. It's easy enough to look up online Even if it was a side effect, you don't just ignore it and say oh well. Most of the time you'd have to discontinue the medication because of an adverse side effect.

There are a lot of nice things that are green, but if that color is coming out of your body, it is not a good sign.
