Question Anyone heard of or used trimipramine?

My psych. just took me off trazadone and replaced it with this drug.I have never heard of it before. The traz. was taking a long time to wear off the next day and I was still waking up at night for as long as 3 hours or so. He feels this will keep me asleep all night.Any experiences?

None here. The wife has taken a LOT of meds in the past. But not that one.
Ask the Dr.

Unhappy Re: Anyone heard of or used trimipramine?

I am on my second day after taking trimipramine and do not like it at all.I slept through the whole first night but woke up feeling doped and tingling in my body and a hangover like effect. The second night I spent the whole night on the edge of falling asleep but never quite making it there.I still woke up with a groggy feeling and a bit of tingling. It finally now is wearing off and this is after my second sleep of the day and it is 2:44 in the afternoon.I think I will go back to trazadone as at least it helped me sleep some and I still woke up with a tired hangover but it wasn't a drugged feeling. And it did help me sleep some.So here we go again.....All in the name of trying to sleep for a full 8 hours.I am a basketcase if I do not get a proper amount of sleep and my bp2 effects me more.I am on medical disability as I can not work- to many mood swings and too much tiredness- and can't handle stress to well.So I know it is not a major setback, but my sleep is my treasured time.I sleep usually 8-10 hours a night (off and on) and I still have to sleep for a couple hours in the afternoon. You would think that sleep would be the last thing I would need. But not so....Would like to remember what energy feels like as I have been in the depression phase for a long time now and don't seem to be coming back up.I miss my almost mania days when I felt like I was going to burst from excitement.I liked those days.

I know it's frustrating, but remember, sometimes the side effects lessen or even go away completely after a few weeks. Maybe keep trying? I know, it feels like life is just one big trial and error!

Good luck

This doesn't help u, however it is in an antidepressant family known as
" tricyclic antidepressants ".. doesn't say much, except becareful with the grace period between this and other types of antidepressants, u should not have any issues between trazadone and the trimipramine, but ssri's such as paxil and zoloft are another story. u may have dry mouth once in a while, and depending on dose and manufacture, it may knock your lights out at bed time.. (which is actually a good thing). Ask the dr AND a pharmacist for POSSIBLE side effects. I took a drug within the same family but not the one u are being prescribed. (Amitriptyline - side effects were dry mouth and memory issues.. but the memory issues could be caused anything including the depression itself.)

good luck
