Unhappy want to do surgery

i have been posting for awhile about the doctors finding nodules in lung, when i was going for x-rays and mris for spinal deformities. well the nodules arent cancer! praise god. second of all i have a total of 3 mris to be done. do far my vervical{my neck} was done last thursday. finally got back and they that c-1 thru c-4 herniated c-6 thru c-7 commpressed. also c-6 thru c-7
large compression on spinal cord. my doctor called me this afternoon after getting results back saying i needed immediate surgery for the compression is very large and commpressing against spinal cord. i have been taking med for an infection in lungs and heart and now meds for infection on spinal cord.
i just dont understand what i did to god to get him so mad at me. they told me no bending, reaching, pushing, pulling, lifting over 3 pounds, picking-up,twisting,and no sitting over 10 minutes. how am i suppose to live like this? im near the end of it all and ready to jump.im sorry! im just cant take any more. also on cervical mri they show t-1 and t-2 are commpressed. and i get the rest scanned next tuesday and wednesday. im scared to get operated on but also i have 2 children that need me with them and not in hospital. what should i do?

Re: want to do surgery

First,I want to say that you are being so brave, by even being able to post with such a large amount of recovery yet to be faced, but Thankgoodness you will recover!!! I can tell by previous posts that you are a survivor!!!!!Thankgoodness those spots are not cancer, and your children will be able to fight this battle with you by their side,I am so very sorry that I personally cannot tell you that all will be easy, because I know it will not,but if you have faith in your Doctors, and in yourself, then your life will be less painful and more full then before, your in my thoughts, and prayers,as I am sure everyone on this board will be by your side in spirit,be strong and please keep posting.Solar

Lynns,Be sure to include your date of surgery, ok,and what have your Doctors said about rest?10min sitting is hardly enough to try and find a restful spot let alone rest,is laying down good? And are they keeping pain at bay, or at least at a tolerable level????And do you have anyone to help you????I know you have been going through heck with the hurricanes,Thankfully this next one is not comeing your way, or is it???? Once again you are in my prayers. Solar

Re: want to do surgery

first the hurricane missed me but now must worry about hurricane jeanne. im going in tomorrow to get best time for surgery. as for laying down forget it, my lazy boy is the best place for me. right now they have me on pennicilan for the infection 2000mg
a day. percoset and motrin 800mg. not helping. as for help that a no and yes. my husband works alot and im usally taking kids to and from school and doc said no today.
my oldest is 17 and id rather not ask him for help. my 13yr old is always off with friends and my 10yr old has no clue whats really wrong with mommy. p.s. 1st 2 children are step kids. im not that old. thats funny. my doc said i was to young to have this much problems being only 29. its like thanks for the kick in the gut!ha!ha!
my hubby isnt someone you can really talk to. he cant handle it and rather not hear it.
so i call my mom whos 1000miles away. thats my comfort but i can hear in here voice its killing her.

Re: want to do surgery

Gee's, This is not good,I bet your Ma wants to be there with you, is that possible? And another hurricane?gee's another last thing you need right now,I understand about the husband part, and actually alot of people, untill they are in your shoes they have no idea,my brother and I got into it, cause a girl in his town that bartends has been through this and needs to have another level done on her neck, he thought she was drug seeking!I almost blew, here I am in that hard collar, knowing the hell, as well as how little pain pills help, plus the fact surgeons do not do surgery cause ya ask for it.Now they help(pain pills) but not prior too the surgery, nerves are a nasty buisness. The kids are all at hard ages, but no babies, thankfully, maybe you can set up someone ahead of time to run them here and there, cuz no way should you even think you should be doing these things,I wish i could be of more help to you, cuz meals and everything should be premade and frozen,so as you can just stay in the recliner(by the way that has been my bed since 3 wks prior to surgery)in order to heal you must be just about yourself,at what ever cost.I know easier said then done, but honestly you cannot be made to feel quilty because you cannot do as before, this is about you and future health !I say this because I know at first that is how I felt, both after my heart surgery, and now with this neck,we are by nature caregivers, but now you need to be taken care of,stock up on those things that you know you will need, stay in touch,as you prolly see I check pretty often, haha my chair is not but 4 feet away!Thinking of you, Solar
