Spotting, Pregnant???

I have been on the pill for almost 5 years now and have been comepletely regular and on a normal schedule. This past week I just started getting not quite a periods, but it's more then spotting. I am not due to have my period until 1.5 weeks from now. I have not missed any pills, but I did take that a couple hours earlier lately because of my new college schedule. I also moved in with 3 other girls, so maybe its because of their hormones.... I am afraid I am pregnant or something. I take orthotricycline. What's going on?

Re: Spotting, Pregnant???

It says in the information that Spotting is a side-effect. I wouldn't worry about it untill you have totally missed your period. Keep taking your pills as normal and Don't stress out to much! And if your period dosn't come ontime then take a HPT or go and see your doctor about it. I had spotting on the pill before sometimes heavy and sometimes it was nothing to big-- I wouldn't stress out to much! Good Luck!

Re: Spotting, Pregnant???

i was on ortho evra for over a year and started doing the same thing in the middle of my cycle a month or so ago. i did some research on it and found that a lot of times your body can get used to your bc method & it will cause you to have breakthrough or irregular bleeding. you might want to give it a couple months to see if the same thing keeps happening and if it does...you might need to see your doctor to switch methods! good luck

Re: Spotting, Pregnant???

Hey. Everytime something is "abnormal" I freak ... so I need a bit of reasurring.

Here's the story. I have been on the pill for almost a year now. For the last two months I have taken it religiously (I programed my cell phone to go off at 11 p.m. to remind me). Last weekend I took my pill 2 hours early (becuase we were going out for the evening). The next day, I took my pill one hour later then my regular 11 p.m. Today (3 days later) I noticed very light, not regular "spotting". Dark brown, and I do not notice it everytime I go to the bathroom.

I would like to know if anyone has experianced this before? Am I just stressing out? Is the spotting just my body trying to deal with the difference in pill taking times?

Thanks

Smile Re: Spotting, Pregnant???

I generally take all of my pills in the morning between 7-10am, depending on whether or not it's a weekend. I had unprotected sex with my boyfriend (we were both virgins), which I don't recommend even with the pill, but with this cycle I still had some spotting, and yes, dark brown blood right before I got my period. This was about about 10 days after I had unprotected sex, and getting a period that soon after that means that I'm not pregnant, so spotting is normal, especially if you've just started taking the pill. When you should worry about pregnancy is if you've completely missed a day.

PS: This might sound stupid, but does anyone know if I could STILL be pregnant even though I got my period 10 days after having unprotected sex? I just don't know how long it takes before an egg is officially "fertilized" and you stop having periods. I doubt this could take 10 days (and I haven't had sex since that last time. Long-distance relationship, that's college for you I guess...)
