The Pill - Breakthrough Bleeding

Ive been on the pill for about 5 or 6 months. Over this time there has been a few times where due to schedual and being busy, ive gone two or three days forgetting to take the pill, and the breakthrough bleeding occurs. I then take the pills two a day til im caught up, as the instructions say to. The bleeding then stops within the next few days. This happend again about a week and a half ago, as it was my first week of college, and I was so busy that I forgot. I took the pills two a day as I always do, and again the bleeding stopped in the next couple days. However, twice since it stopped, ive had days where there was some bleeding, dispite that ive taken every pill since then. Has anyone else ever had this ,and if so, what does it mean?

Re: The Pill - Breakthrough Bleeding

Break through bleeding is common when you forget your pills because your body thinks that it's on the "sugar pills" and is doing what it's suppose to. My pharmacist told me NOT to take two to get caught up just take the day that your supposed to be on. You do know that by messing up your pills that you can get pregnant right? You can. If you take your pills normal and you still have breakthrough bleeding then your pills may not be strong enough for you. You can call your pharmacist for information.

Re: The Pill - Breakthrough Bleeding

I used to have breakthrough bleeding a lot. At first it was caused by me missing the doses, then I got on track and it still happened. So I switched to a higher dose b/c.

Re: The Pill - Breakthrough Bleeding

I've never heard of being told to take 2 per day to catch up. This could mess up your system which may be why you are having breakthrough bleeding. In my instruction pack it says if you miss a pill, take it within 12 hours of your usual time if you can, otherwise class it as a missing pill and continue as normal, taking 1 pill per day.

I would say that all the messing around with missing pills then taking extra are messing up your system. Maybe you need to change the time of day you take your pill so that it is easier to remember. I take it when I clean my teeth to go to bed b/c that way I will always remember it. Why not take it when you brush your teeth in the morning? Leave it right near your toothbrush if possible.

Re: The Pill - Breakthrough Bleeding

i was told that if you are missing that many pills it may not be a good idea to be on them. not taking them on time just defeats the purpose of them
