Breakthrough bleeding

I started to have breakthrough bleeding 4 months after starting a new pill. Has this happened to anyone else because I thought it would happen in the first three months. It was only a tiny little bit and it was there for three days. I'm not sure if that tiny little biut would be considered breakthrough bleeding, but I hope it was a fluke thing because I really like this pill.

Smile Re: Breakthrough bleeding

Hi! The same thing happened to me after four months of being on the pill. I am currently on Estrostep Fe. Everything was fine until my fourth month of taking it. It was strange because my periods are so light now, I barely have them, so I was surprised to have breakthrough bleeding. My breakthrough bleeding was more than my period usually is. I always seem to have this problem after about four months on the pill, so I've tried about five or six different ones in the past, always with the same result. You might want to talk to your doctor about switching pills though. Maybe the one you're taking isn't strong enough. I'm switching to Yasmin next month because it's supposed to help with water weight gain. Wish me luck!

Re: Breakthrough bleeding

I am currently taking Estrostep FE. I started in August, and I am having the same questions you are about the breakthrough bleeding. I had my peroid like usual in August. Then this month I'm not sure if I started or if this is breakthrough bleeding. The problem I have is that I am getting married on 10/16 & if I am starting my peroid like I normally would have then I am going to start the day before my wedding. I was told by my dr. to finish the pills I have & skip the placebo pills & go right to another pack of white pills. I have been told that you can switch your pills around to where you will put your peroid off. If this is true can someone tell me how to do this. I have already posted one on here that is labled Need to regulate my peroid asap! I am just getting really frustrated since I don't know if my doc has told me to take pills this way to skip a peroid or if I started my peroid this month. I am just really worried about next month. If I am causing my peroid to come later after my wedding then I just don't want to be going through any breakthrough bleeding right up to my wedding or while I'm gone. I am just totally confussed & I only got one reply on mine that I posted earlier. So maybe by posting this I might get some feed back to along w/your question about breakthrough bleeding.

Re: Breakthrough bleeding

That is strange. I was fine for three months, and now I have the bleeding. Bu, it was only a tiny, little bit. Not enough to call a period. I didn't even have to wear a tampon because it was so small. I am praying that it was just a freak thing because I really love this pill. My dr told me that breakthrough bleeding is nothing to get nervous about unless it happens every month. I started taking the pill because I was getting two periods every month and I had such a hard time finding a pill that didn;t give me migranes and I hope that it was only one time. Thanks

Re: Breakthrough bleeding

Well the reason I am trying to figure out if this is breakthrough or if it's my peroid, is because it's not that much. I have been using tampons but that is really too much. I know it sounds weird but you would assume that I would be able to figure out my own body. I am 21 & this is the 1st time I have ever been on birth control. I am can deal w/the breakthrough bleeding but I can't if it's my peroid. I am confused to the point as I said before that I'm not sure which it is. I guess it's not my peroid I don't really know. I got one reply on my first post I put on here - and the lady that replied back said that usually if they tell you to skip your placebo pills (which cause you to have a peroid) that they are trying to regulate you. But like I had told her the nurse told me to go ahead & finish my pack of white pills this month & then start a new one & do only 2 weeks of those & just go off the pills until I get back (after my wedding) and then start them again (and of course to use a back up Birth Control) but really none of this makes any sense to me. So I shouldn't really be having this now? Or should I? What kind of BC are you taking?
