For those with moderate acne, what has been working for you?

Hi everybody,

I am a 22 year old female.
I have been suffering from acne for 7 years of my life so far (more so when I turned 19).
I have tried everything.
Alesse makes me breakout alot! Ortho and Diane-35 make me very sick (nauseous 24/7).
I tried Accutane. It did wonders for my skin, but its effects only lasted about 1 year. The derm says he can't give me a second course because my acne is now moderate (not severe)!
My skin has been very bad of late - it seems like everytime i have a derm appointment, my skin clears up for just that one week (arrrgggh!).
Are there any good antibiotics (or oral medications) out there for people with moderate acne? Anything that works like Diane 35 or Ortho, without making me feel sick to my stomach?
I have heard of Spironolactone, Demulen, Doxycycline, Minocycline....
What works well?
I have a dermatologist appointment October 29 (so far away!). I'd like to learn all I can before speaking to him.
Thanks everybody.

Spiro is great! And it seems like the majority of people on here that have tried it like it. I also love Differin, but from the posts on here I see it doesn't work for everyone.
I know what you mean about nausea on BC...what misery! I had it on Yasmin but I'm fine with Desogen. Ironically, I had to go off for a month for surgery and I've been so sick to my stomach for some unknown reason!

I recond trying Minocycle, 100% Fruit of the Earth Aloe, Sac Acid, and Moisturizing.

Morning- Take shower and use Sac Acid Soap and take 1 Minocycle Pill

Afternoon- Take all the vitamens u need when u get home from school or whatever and drink alot of water!!

Night- Another shower before bed using Sac Acid Soap again, take another pill, and than when u get out pat ur face dry and apply Aloe Vera ( remeber, your not putting icing on a cake ) after about an hour, wash it off and than apply a Derm Approved Moisturizer!! ( IMPORTANT TO MOISTURIZE!!! I know it sounds weird, because u think the drier the better... WRONG!! ) and than let it dry alittle and go to bed

Repeat!

GOODLUCK

If that is the case I would suggest taking pictures of yourself so that you can show them to your derm.

Re: For those with moderate acne, what has been working for you?

My daughter, age 20, also had moderate but persistant acne. The derm put her on Doxycycline (75mg a day) and Duac cream twice a day in late July. She started clearing right away! The last visit he added Taz cream every other night to help with the red marks. The combination has cleared her up 100%, even at period time. She moisterizes(Cetaphil) only where and if needed. She washes twice a day with Cetaphil for oily skin. She will probably switch to regular Cetaphil cleanser when the weather turns cold, as it's milder on the skin. That's it for her routine.
Good luck to you and I hope you find the right products for your skin!
