strange side effect of BCPs?

I have been taking pills for 6 years now, and I have experienced the typical libido drop due to the hormones (slightly better now that I am on a lower-dose pill). The strange thing is, if DH and I haven't had sex in a couple of days, I get very aroused in my sleep. I have sex dreams and sometimes even have orgasms while I am sleeping (although they usually wake me up!).

I always thought this was something kind of psychological....i.e. I had issues with my body, or subconcious guilt about having sex that kind of suppressed my libido while I was awake but when I was asleep I was able to be turned on. I can GET turned on during sexual activity, but I don't usually initiate it because I am not typically ever "horny".

However yesterday I was talking to my sister who just started BCPs a couple of months ago, and she said that since starting them, the same thing (sex dreams and arousal in her sleep) has been happening to her. I can't really see HOW BCPs could cause dropped libido while you are awake but heightened libido while you are asleep, but it definitely seems to me like there is a connection, considering we both agree this never happened to us before starting the pill.

Has this happened to anyone else?

Sara-
I changed from bc pills to Nuva Ring and this happened to me quite frequently. Now after being on it for 6 months, I don't get the dreams that often. I would wake up having an orgasm or even think that my husband and I had had sex. I actually asked him one time if we did. They were very vivid. I never really thought anything about them, I did figure it was a side effect from the change of hormones.
