Posted on RLS board but no response, desperate!

I apollogise for making a duplicate thread but i really need some info

Let me begin..

Im not sure how long ive noticed this problem with my legs for, perhaps lets say a year. my first encounter was about 4 yrs ago when i walked my knee caps felt like someone had pinched a nerve inside it and it made walking sore when i pressed my foot down on the ground because my knee would hurt moving back and forth (not sure if this is relevant)

anyway, it never really bothered me but i always have an urge to move my legs, its like its the only part of my body that my mind focuses on so if i sit down or im standing up im constantly moving my legs and doing like "dance" steps to soothe my urge. also i must stretch them as i feel like they need stretching.

when i sit on the computer chair and pull my knees up towards me with my feet resting on the chair, my legs tingle
and when i sit down on the chair, it makes my lower back and legs feel very restless.

also i can be walking around the kitchen and my lower legs feel weak and i have to grab something to maintain my balance.
Finally, my feet often feel like sore just after standing up for five minutes and my legs feel sore and feel like they constantly need massaging after i come home from work even tho the majority i sit there and ocassionally stand for five minutes.

my legs feel constantly agitated and i feel like it takes along time to relax them

my symptoms are perculier but im hoping someone can relate to me or tell me if my symptoms are VERY alike to RLS and its not a neurogical thingy

thank you sooo much

I too had problems with restless legs, but, did not have the other symptoms you do. I have fibromyalgia and that accounts for some of the misery but not the constant having to move legs.

In attempting to trace the cause my husband reminded me he could not take vitamin E without it affecting his nervous system and kinda felt restless. I decided to omit the Vitamin E 800 I.U. I had been taking for many years. Much to my surprise in a few days my legs were better and continued to improve. Apparently my body reached tolerance level for Vitamin E.

Check meds, prescription and over counter, and see if there might be something causing or contributing to your problem.

Only a doctor will be able to really figure out the problem, that is, if, you see a doctor who is "interested" in you.

It could be a problem in the lower back area,it definitely sounds to be nerve related.Maybe irritation of a nerve?Or a possible herniation of a disc?i would discuss this with your doc and see if you need to have an MRI or some other type of diagnostic test done to see what is going on in there.Good luck.

Re: Posted on RLS board but no response, desperate!

Bluetooth, so sorry to hear about the RLS. It runs in families. I'll bet some of your kinfolk may have it. I have had it for about 25 years. My mother and brother had it also. Mine got better after I had a heart attack and stroke....That ain't no good cure for Rls, now is it? I think part of mine getting better is that I now have peripheral neuropathy (PN) in my legs from taking statins and feneofibrates (tricor) for super high cholesterol. I had to stop the statins altogether, but still take tricor for awhile, and then stop for awhile. Enough bout me. Was just relating things that can happen.
I think you may have more than RLS going on, but you definitely have it (first time I have told anyone here this). I don't know your age and what medicines otc, and prescribed you take, but otc meds can worsen RLS. Especially tylenol PM.
The pain and soreness you describe are not associated with RLS, I don't think, and the knee cap deal is probably not associated with any of your current problems. Look at your prescription medications first. Look up associated side affects, or I can do that for you. Next, consider peripheral artery disease (PAD), or other blood circulatory disorders, involving the legs. Are you diabetic? Have you had your fasting blood glucose level checked recently? I would see a doctor soon, and describe these symptoms. Good luck
