Re: High heart rate due to broncitus(with asthma)

I have a constantly high heart rate that is directly related to all the meds i take for my asthma, as i'm sure you know the albuterol will increase your heart rate some too. Also i do find when i am having more difficulty breathing my heart rate tends to increase some and it seems the higher it gets the quicker my O2 sats fall. I hope you are feeling better

Re: High heart rate due to broncitus(with asthma)

Hi engineer1961, just wondering exactly how high your pulse was? My pulse will race sometimes even before I load up on my meds, and albuterol will usually does speed it up a bit. Without being affected by meds I think the fastest mine has ever been is @ 130 bpm. I was just to the dr last night myself with a sinus infection, upper resp infection and ear infection, luckily no bronchitis this time. My doc also put me on Zpac, Decadron (which I take in place of prednisone), and tussinex cough syrup. This morning my pulse was 118 bpm.

Do you know what your pulse runs normally? Hope you are feeling better soon and can get that peek flow back up. Take care and keep us posted.

Re: High heart rate due to broncitus(with asthma)

Noclue what my normal heart rate is and the doctor never gave me the rate just that it was "very high ".The Prednisone is starting to help i think, I'm breathing easier plus my PFM is higher today. The tylonol #3 is helping with the pain too (plus my husband will not let me out of bed .......yes he's gone to the store to buy me some OJ so i snuck in here ....a tad over protective but sweet none the less .Thank you all for your replies . I really think my heart rate was just up from all the damm caughing fits!
