Has anybody been successful with Orthotricyclen

Hey everybody,

Has anybody had success with Orthotricyclen?
My dermatologist says my skin is not bad enough for a second course of Accutane.
What are my options now?
I have moderate acne (it was more mild, until I went on Alesse... which ruined my skin).
I hear that Orthotricyclen is good for moderate acne sufferers.
What can you do to prevent nausea?
I'm on Differin now - it works, but doesn't help with the constant breakouts... it only heals (very slowly) what is already there.

Re: Has anybody been successful with Orthotricyclen

Ortho made my have a horrible breakout for 3 months off and on,.. then it calmed down, but i still got acne. It got worse, then got better, then worse. Never consistent.

Now i'm on Diane 35 and it is clearing me up really well! I've been on it only 1 month and one week, and now...i'm getting tingling sensasions in my legs. I think i'm developing blood clots, so i'm going to the Dr tomorrow to switch before i DIE!

I'm thinking of trying Marvelon/Desogen ... anyone try this one???

Re: Has anybody been successful with Orthotricyclen

In my experience with ortho-tricyclen, I couldn't believe they advertised it to improve one's skin as I saw just the opposite. I'm probably the exception though, it says it has been clinically proven to reduce break outs. I found that my skin was much worse when I used this form of oral contraception. Hope your experience is better than mine. From what I hear about accutane though you might just want to give the ortho a shot first to see what happens. Everybody is different you know.
Good luck!

Re: Has anybody been successful with Orthotricyclen

I am on Ortho Tricyclen lo and will soon be switching to the generic Ortho Tricyclen (Tri Sprintec) - due to insurance. The Ortho Tricyclen Lo helped with my breakouts, and it contained lower amounts of androgen binding hormones (the hormones that makes females break out) than the regular Ortho Tricyclen. My guess is that if the "Lo" version was effective, the regular Ortho Tricyclen will be just as effective, if not perhaps more. However, everyone's body will react differently to these new hormones. My doctor says to give a new pill 2-3 cycles. My guess is that it would be worth your time to give it a try. Good luck!

Re: Has anybody been successful with Orthotricyclen

I had been on OTC for about 9 months, and it definitely didn't clear anything, and my acne actually got worse too (but that may have been because of stress). I'm on desogen now, which is supposed to be good too, and my face has actually been clearing. I can't tell if it's because of the new pill, or the new cleansing routine I've been using, or both. Anyway, OTC didn't help me at all, but everyone's different. Hope it works for you
