Is there anyone out there who took ritalin and then later switched to adderall? I'd love to hear some comparisons of the two. I'm taking ritalin now, 20 mg, three or four X a day, and I'm thinking about the possibility of trying something new.

Adderall is much weaker then ritalin (I know that sounds odd but it's true) You can't "feel" adderall so it's hard to know what it's doing.
I use them both. If adderall was stronger it would be the best drug. To equal 20MG of Ritalin I have to take 60MG of adderall and because of that god-awful sticky filler in Adderall 60MG is too much.
I just switched from Rit SR 80mg daily to ADD XR 60mg daily and I feel terible. I thought it would be a smooth transition but it has not been. I am checking about withdrawl from Rit. They say it is better but I have not seen it yet...Good luck........
Don't let my babbling stop you. It effect each of us different...And to think people abuse Adderall............
my son was on ritalin for about 6 months but he lost too much weight. This was back about 8 years ago. They tried many different meds before settling in on a combo of adderall and clonidine for him. He has been on this ever since and has only had to have one increase since he started. He is now 12 1/2 years old and is right on for height and weight (actually he is one of the taller boys in the class). We have been very happy with adderall.
Good luck with whatever you choose. I know from my own experience with meds, one medicine isn't for everyone.
